2022’s First Championship Round

Team BB … Championship Mode Activated!
Last weekend we had many of our cars out at the British Autograss Series and UKAC held In South Wales and South Somerset. Down in Wales we had beautiful weather all weekend and perfect for racing. The meeting was run very well and with a large amount of cars expected, got through it with relative ease. UKAC saw dust on the Saturday and rain on the Sunday, unfortunately meaning the finals were cancelled after a large amount of rain overnight and throughout the day.

Special Mentions
A few special mentions after this weekend, people who have picked up trophies or picked up some of there best results!
First up Chester Payne, Chester has been out of juniors and jumped straight into a class 10. He definitely shook things up and made people pay that little bit more attention to who was in the car that was beating some top drivers. But it was Chester in YD31 that picked up the 3rd place trophy in the final down at South Wales and he was absolutely flying.. definitely one to watch.
Next up a special mention to Will Bradford BC115 an Iago Evans TA6 both just a few places off the very competitive Junior Special final. Will is edging on to his final year in the class and has been one to watch throughout his years, he has made multiple BAS finals in the past and we have no doubt he will make a few more this year. Iago is a few seasons into his J-spec career and is always one to watch putting in great races and results. He was also just a few places off the final and we are sure he will be in that top 8 soon enough.
We also had a few Juniors make there first appearance at a BAS round. Darragh O’Riordan took part in his first BAS round this weekend. Its safe to say the parents were nervous but Darragh completed all 3 heats and for his first full year Darragh did an excellent job. There is no doubt he will be up there with the best of them soon. Skye Paskell was another that made her first appearance. She unfortunately had a knock in one of her races, but she got straight back up and gave it another go. Skye has always shown potential in her races and will be one to watch in the future. She is definitely getting her confidence built up the more she races.
Finally we go to Cory Mumford, we always knew the switch from BAS to UKAC would provide some challenges. But Cory took them with ease and as chilled as he was made his first BAS Final 2nd Qualifier. Another set of parents a lot more nervous than the driver. But they had nothing to be worried about and Cory came home with a 4th place trophy in a group of juniors that are at the top of there game.

Special Mentions
Aaron Mason had a brilliant weekend after having a solid 1/2/4 in the heats leaving him top qualifier. In what was tricky conditions with dust one day mud the next, Aaron had the car set up a treat for both conditions and after the finals being cancelled, took home the top trophy. He has set his UK Championships off in the best way possible!
Chris Ashwin finished the UKAC last year in second place. He decided to give it another go this year and set his campaign off to a flyer. Taking a 1/3/1 in the heats he was going into the final top qualifier, again testing his driving in 2 different conditions and taking home the first place pot. If he keeps going like this the workshop will never be quiet!!
After weeks of bad luck getting used to the car Carl Dugdale finally got to grips with it and pulled out some good results over the course of the weekend with 5/2/1 in the heats it left him 3rd qualifier for the final. Like the others unfortunately it didn’t take place so Carl took home the 3rd place trophy for the weekend.
The last special mention of the weekend goes to Mike Liddiatt 309F. Mike unfortunately took a huge tumble last year which left him out of action for a while but this weekend he got back out there in his refreshed car just to get some time in the car and it was great to hear him back out there!
!!5 weeks to go until Round 2!!
