BAS and UKAC Round 2

BAS and UKAC Round 2

UKAC- Sturton

A very sunny and warm weekend at Sturton last weekend topped off by a few trophies and finalists for BB and more competitors campaigning for the top spot.

Chris Ashwin started off with a difficult run and after having mechanical issues, didn’t finish his first race, but it soon improved as he come back with a 3rd and a 1st and finished 3rd in the final. Currently sat in the top 4, Chris is looking to stay there ahead of round 3 at York and gain more track time before his national championship appearance at the end of July.

Mike Liddiatt also had a great weekend. After coming back a few weeks ago after a while out, Mike made the class 10 final after some great results throughout the weekend. Mike is getting used to the car again and finding out what works. He took 6th place in the final and will head to York to continue his campaign in the UKAC.

Will Barrett finished 4th in the class 7 final. He is currently looking to take a secure spot in the top 4 before the end of the series on a track that seemed to suit him. Lisa Charles also had a great weekend gaining her best results after adding some BB x Nitron shocks to the back of the car. She made the B final and was extremely happy with her weekend. Carl Dugdale had a bit of damage over the weekend, but still managed to get some decent racing out of what was a tricky weekend.

Josh Morgan has been out a few times with his new class 9, trying different tracks and different set ups to find out what works. Josh has also qualified for the nationals so each meeting is helping towards preparation for the biggest meeting of the year. Aaron Mason R19 has had the best possible start to his UKAC series, winning round 1 and round 2 he is top of the shop overall and is looking to continue that over the next 3 rounds.

Fin Winter had a great round in his 2022 Junior Special. He made the A final but had a few issues on the start line, still a great achievement and all good practice.

BAS- Cwmdu

We had all weathers at BAS last weekend, from sun to rain to hail to wind, we were definitely tested with track conditions.

Overall we had some brilliant results. Howard Thomas DA26 on his first appearance over the water in the new car this year, picked up 3,1,2 and made his first semi final. Unfortunately he just missed out, but the car was phenomenal to watch and Howard was happy which is all we ask. Some extreme competition in class 7 at the moment and Howard made it into the top 16.

Zack Yeardley ST691 also had an excellent weekend and is constantly improving his results. He picked up a 3,2,3 and made the top 16 just missing out on the final. It was great to see Zack racing alongside another BB car Liam Nicholls at the weekend, this proves the cars are working and as competitive as ever. Liam started his weekend off with a 1st, a 5th in very tricky conditions and a 3rd, leaving him just a few spaces off the semi final. The car is definitely a contender and one to watch and has made a huge improvement.

Cerwyn Thomas and Matt Owen both picked up the same results. Cerwyn took his first ever tumble but thankfully he was ok an very little damage to the car. He went back out in the re run and picked up a second, Not bad after rolling over! Matt just asking for a bit of luck after a very tricky start to the year.

Tayla Jade and Skye Paskell took some brilliant results over the weekend, a special mention to Skye who is constantly setting herself targets and ended day one with a 3rd and a 2rd, her best ever results. Conditions got tricky but she still picked up another great result. Titch picked up a black flag but ended her weekend with a 5th and a 3rd..

The class 8 ladies, Terri Mumford, Sue Nicholls and Aby picked up there best results of the season. Sue just being a few places off and Terri one point off! Gutted! Aby achieved 5th place in the final after an unexpected polished turn to the track! Charlene Hankey also collecting her best results and always being a front runner.

Jodie Paskell and Becky Faulkner finished 3rd and 2nd the class 10 final. Jodie having a win in the heat and Becky having 2nds and 3rds, after loosing some confidence, the car has had some TLC and Beck is back at the front where she belongs!

Iago Evans and Will Bradford joined the top 16 making the semi final after a set of consistent results between the two of them Iago taking 2 wins and a 3rd, Will taking 2 3rds and a win! Both just missed out on the final by a place or two but we are sure they will be in big finals soon enough!

Cory Mumford made his second ever BAS final, after having a great start, taking 3 wins and finishing in the top 4 in the semis, Cory made the final and was first to the corner. Junior Specials is so competitive this year as it always has been, which left Cory with a little tap and dropped him back down to 6th place which is where he stayed for the rest of the race. Although he was disappointed, his fellow competitors were their for him and this is an amazing achievement. He is currently sat 2nd overall.

But the champion of the weekend was from over the water. Neil Tivy WW142 achieved top 3 results all weekend and made his way to the front of the pack. He was a high placed qualifier going into the final after getting through the semi finals. It was Neil’s weekend a 2nd, 1st, 3rd in a competitive class couldn’t be a better start. After not having the best start to the final, Neil worked his way through to win his first ever BAS final. The car formally belonging to Chloe Solloway is a few years old now, but its proved it still has the pace and so does Neil! Congratulations!
