British and UK Championship Round 2!
Share
Just 2 weeks after Round 1, we were back in championship mode for round 2 of the BAS and UKAC held in North Shropshire and South Somerset.
BAS- North Shropshire
This round, saw Aby make the final and finish 5th in a very close final in a car that is just a meeting old, we think this shows the potential of the new 2022 chassis and what it can really do amongst some top ladies, we are pleased with the way this car is coming on and excited to reach its limits! Currently sitting 5th in the standings we have some work to do to get into the top 4 amongst some quick ladies! Lucy Smart also made the final in ladies 10’s after just her second BAS round since having 2 years out of the car! Liam Nicholls also made the semi final in class 8 just missing out by one position! Its all progress!
A very special mention goes to Darryl Smart in class 10 who after 20 years of working hard to get where he is and to be able have a top car, made his first ever BAS final and finished 6th. Emotions were running high and it shows just how much making a British championship final can mean to people. We are sure their is plenty more to come!
Tia Rees is now leading the British Autograss Series in the Junior Specials and finished 3rd in just her second BAS final. Tia flew the flag and brought home a trophy and we are looking forward to working again with the new design Junior Special to help Tia keep her lead and become the next female British Champion after Aby 3 years ago.
However the best results of the weekend at BAS came from Barry and Aly Ashmore in men’s and ladies class 10, who both came home to win there finals and definitely flew the flag for the adults of BB. They both drove amazingly and worked all the way until the end to keep their leads! Some saying that Barry’s drive was the drive of the day! Barry is still putting on a fight to work his way up the order currently sitting 4th in the standings and Aly is fighting for the lead after sitting a comfortable second overall.
Its a long game!
UKAC- South Somerset
The UKAC round 1 champion Cory Mumford was off to a brilliant start down in Somerset in his J-Spec starting his weekend off with 2 wins. Having raced on polish tracks for the majority of the season, it was no stranger to the youngster and he made his way into his second UKAC final with 1-1-3 in the heats, and unfortunately got a black flag in the final for a jump start. We are happy to say that Cory, is now leading the UKAC in just his first full season and first championship.
Team BB’s very own Chris Ashwin managed to bring home a 1st place trophy. It is safe to say we had a very happy winner in the workshop the following morning and makes all the hard work and after taking a hard tumble at the start of the year all worth it. Chris was one of the highest results of the weekend for Team BB. Currently sat in the top 4 after 2 rounds, we know Chris wont give up until he is sat in that top spot!
We are so happy to have 2 of our youngest drivers leading the UKAC and BAS both in junior specials, this really shows the potential our young drivers have and we are intrigued and excited to see the future of BB improve weekend upon weekend. The future looks so bright for these young juniors!
