Ladies and Juniors 2022- We have our Second Junior Special National Champion!!
Share
Tricky Conditions at Hereford this weekend, but a great number of Ladies and Juniors turned out to compete in the Nationals.
Starting with the Junior Specials. Tia Rees PAC21 had a flyer taking wins throughout the heats and getting through to the Semi-Finals. Unfortunately, Tia’s last Junior Nationals ended there after picking up damage, but she still had a smile on her face and is looking forward to her move to Class 8 next year. The Irish also had a very strong showing over the weekend, taking high results and making the Semi Finals unfortunately just missing out on the final after battling hard all weekend. Harvey Donovan IK71 picked up a win throughout the heats putting him through to the Quarter finals, as well as Brandon Young E223 who made the final in his last year of Junior Specials, had to pull off due to a mechanical fault but still made the top 8 out of 73 signed on drivers. Will Bradford BC115 made the Semi-Finals but missed out on the final by one place. Iago Evans pushed through to the Semi Finals and was very close to the Final but just missed out. Skye and Lexus Paskell also had some good results throughout the heats. Lexus getting more time in the car and Skye picking up some great results at her nationals very early on in her career.
Cory Mumford 161F took 3 wins in the heats, a win in his quarter final and a 3rd in the Semi-final. Very early on in his career, Cory has made every BAS final, the National final last year and has continued his success onto this year. He led the National Final from the start and after 8 long laps, took the win and became to 2022 Junior Special National Champion. Mum and Dad were thrilled after the build-up to the nationals, with so many races throughout the weekend the stress continued until that last race. But Cory took the win, and it was an honour to be able to present the trophy to him, sponsoring Junior Specials throughout the weekend. Our second Junior national champion and it just shows the potential our cars and drivers have so early on into their careers. We would like to congratulate the Mumford family, for all their hard work on and off track and thank them for being a part of Team BB.Moving on to the Ladies and class 8. Stand out lady this weekend was IK850 Kim Fittall. In her first ladies Nationals, Kim made it through to the final out of 40 drivers and some blistering results through the heats. Kim is a racer that is always out to just enjoy her racing and any results is a bonus. It was great to see Kim in the final as a member of Team BB and on the back of the pick-up with some of the greatest lady racers in our sport. Aby had a very tough weekend, picking up a black flag in the first heat and 2 wins in the following heats left her just 2 points from the final. As you can imagine we were all disappointed after the success of the previous 2 years. But there is still another BAS rd to go! Terri Mumford also picked up the dreaded black flag and damage after some great results the rest of the weekend. Leaving her just a few places from the final. Sue Nicholls YD7 also took some of the Nationals Bad luck. It was a tricky track to adjust to with some flying round and some pushing on. However, Sue got some more time in the car and was happy to have got her confidence back. Tayla Jade Paskell on her home track had some issues with the car last weekend, which meant she was jumping straight into the nationals with not much seat time since the last BAS round. Titch still picked up some great results at her home nationals and whilst busy and stressed off track, didn’t let that affect her on track.
Onto Ladies class 10. Just the one heat of Ladies 10s at the nationals, 2 of which BB cars all fighting to become Class 10 National Champion. With just one meeting in a new car under her belt, Jodie Paskell H250 put on a great show over the weekend, whilst trying to organise and sort the biggest event of the year out. Jodie took some good results in the heats, leaving her 3rd in the final. Becky Faulkner NS6 put on a great challenge for that top spot in the final. Again, still getting used to the car and the car on this track especially. After winning the last BAS round, Becky was definitely gaining confidence in the car and eventually on the last lap had to settle for 2nd place.
We would like to say a huge Congratulations and Well Done to all of the winners, but especially all of our team that put on a fantastic show all weekend.
Next Stop BAS and UKAC!
