The All Ireland Autograss Series
Share
Last weekend saw the final round of the All-Ireland Autograss Series. A 3 round series that took place at Down Autograss, Cork Autograss and West Waterford Autograss Clubs. It was a scorcher of a weekend, but nevertheless some great results have come out of Team BB from over the pond.
To start, it was time for Harry Daly WW388 to have the moment he has been waiting for. His first outing in his all new 2022 BB collected at the Men’s Nationals, one of the only lads to take his shoes off when he first sat in it! Harry had an excellent shakedown meeting at what is a series packed full of Junior Specials. He made the A final after some great results and finished well and after a year out, he certainly has a lot of potential in his new car.
Next up is Neil Tivy WW142. Neil has had a great year so far, taking home Junior Saloon and Special top spots at BAS Rd 2 and his AIAS series just got better as it went on. Neil won the first round, unfortunately broke down in the final of the 2nd round, and finished second in rd3, leaving him a total of 8 wins over the series in just 3 rounds and finishing 2nd overall.
Darragh Kenny MA24 hasn’t had much seat time in his car yet, but that never stopped him from taking over round 3 of the series. Darragh had a brilliant run taking wins throughout the round and winning the final. Everyone knows how competitive Junior Specials is in Ireland, we are sure that Darragh and his family were delighted with the run through the heats and winning his first big final of the year.
The last of the J specs is Overall Junior and Junior Special champion Darragh Sheehy. Darragh is one of the more experienced racers in the Juniors and has certainly pulled some brilliant results over the course of the series. Darragh won round 1 and 2 leaving him in a great position to take the overall title, during round 3 he acquired enough points to do so. Darragh also took home the overall Junior, combining both Junior Saloons and Specials. We’d like to wish Darragh a huge congratulations.
Finally, a special mention to Chloe Heffernan CW71 who has an older style BB Car. If you saw her BB profile a few weeks ago, you will know that Chloe is new to the class this year after leaving class 2 and just wanted to spend the year getting to know the new car and how competitive class 8 is. Chloe has taken to the car extremely quickly and bagged 2nd overall in the AIAS Ladies class 8 championship.
You will see the majority of these juniors take on the Ladies and Juniors National Championships in just a few weeks’ time, so keep an eye out for results!
